Welcome

“Everyone needs a little friend.”
– Bob Ross

In a world where feral cats are often overlooked or misunderstood, Purrever Friends is on a mission to make their lives safer and kinder.

Through Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) and community education, we advocate for cats too often dismissed as pests but seen by our volunteers as friends in need.

For feral cats, survival is a daily challenge—finding food, shelter, and safety. Like any cat, they deserve compassion and care.

At Purrever Friends, we believe friendship and kindness can change lives—human and feline alike. Join us in creating a world where every cat, no matter their past, has a chance to live with dignity.

Purrever Friends Rescue is a 501(c)(3), 100% volunteer-run nonprofit serving Greenville County, South Carolina. All donations are tax-deductible.
EIN: 99-1673289

*Please note that Purrever Friends Rescue is primarily a resource. We are here to provide the support and tools you need to participate in efforts to manage feral cat populations. We will not fully remove cats from your property and cannot accept cats you have trapped.*

We need your help: Halle Berry

Not long after Purrever Friends Rescue was founded, we were asked to help a fellow rescuer by taking in a litter of kittens that had been found, abandoned by their mother, outside of a local church. These weeks-old kittens were incredibly sick with upper respiratory infections. It didn't seem likely they would survive. Cindy and Angie (but primarily Cindy) stayed up around the clock for days, nursing them back to health. It seemed likely three of the four kittens would lose all their eyes, but we were focused on keeping them alive. Miraculously, the kittens all survived with their eyes intact, but Halle Berry was the worst of all. She and Denzel now require a procedure to try to save their eyesight. We are fundraising for this surgery now.

Who we are

Our rescue was founded by two longtime friends (Angie and Cindy) who have seen firsthand the difference TNR can make in a community. In 2017, Cindy discovered a kitten in the parking lot of a local fast-food restaurant, and the rest—as they say—is history. With close to 600 cats TNRed since that time, we’ve seen aggressive male tomcats turn into friendly pussycats who greet us every day at feeding time, and we’ve prevented countless females from enduring difficult pregnancies. Our original colony of approximately 40 cats is now down to 6. Of course, we now care for multiple colonies—with more being discovered every day.

We’ve found close to 270 homes for kittens and strays who were socialized by volunteers. Each of our leadership volunteers are certified in TNR by the Community Cats Podcast. Our volunteers are also working closely with local governments to assist with TNR initiatives and possible legislation to have an even bigger impact in the community. Thanks to another founding member, Andres, and our amazing volunteer, Greyci, we also work with Spanish-speaking residents who need help with feral cats.

Looking to adopt?

Meet Your New Feline Friend

Sometimes, we find kittens that can be socialized or rescue abandoned pet cats from the streets. We ensure they receive veterinary care, are spayed or neutered, and placed in foster homes. These cats are now available for adoption—take a look!
